Primary

2019-02-14T21:07:38+00:00

Primary was a labor of love between Dave Fulton and I. You are Roy G. Biv, a hero who can alter his color which allows him to reach different platforms and perform special actions. Your world is being sucked of it's color and you need to reach the void at the top of Prizm tower to put a stop to it. Featuring upgrades and boss fights, this is a very challenging and unforgiving platformer. I wanted anything tangible to be saturated with color while background objects remain a stale grey. Each level has a crayon collectible too so it leaves for some re-playability for those who are perfectionists. The level creator used [...]

Wedding Video

2019-02-14T19:55:35+00:00

My wife wanted a wedding video to have fond memories of the day. In order to save money, I asked the videographer to only come on the wedding day to record footage. He was not responsible for editing any of the video footage, which is a hefty source of the cost. Once I obtained the raw footage, I put together a short wedding video of my own. Extremely pleased with the final result, my wife shared the video on all forms of social media.

2D Animation Showreel

2019-02-14T19:47:52+00:00

This animation showreel is a small showcase of my 2D animation capabilities. My animations have won various awards and have been featured on local television stations in the Houston area. Some of the animations shown were made for commercial purposes, others for personal projects. Both were added to display a wider range of animation styles that I can do for clientele.

3D Animation Showreel

2019-02-14T19:43:48+00:00

This showreel is focused on 3D Animations created underneath my graphic design subscription business, as a contractor. Companies like to utilize 3D as a unique way to display their products. It’s more fun to look at than a static image. Several valve companies in the area found my quality of work to be well worth it, which is why a majority of this video is about valves. I put a lot of effort into materials and lighting so your product looks as pristine as possible.

Symphonic Tower Defense

2019-02-14T19:21:49+00:00

Symphonic Tower Defense is a solid flash game created by Jon Sandness and myself. Using both Flash and Photoshop, I animated all the effects and designed the layout of the game. It's a tower-defense that revolves around the music playing at the time. We started off planning to use one ridiculously long song, but over time we realized that single short levels were way more fun. Each tower type gets a boost from a particular instrument of the song. The menus were inspired by music games like Dance Dance Revolution and the actual gameplay area uses a lot of musical elements. Some of our most enthusiastic evangelists are musicians who really appreciated [...]

Critical Service Valve

2019-02-14T04:47:08+00:00

COOPER Valves has a product line of metal seated ball valves that are extremely advantageous in many industries. I made these videos for a loop at tradeshows. They would play continuously for several hours. They installed a television in the company's lobby and put the video on loop as well. Many industrial tradeshows get visited by Cooper each year, including POWERGEN, HRSG, AFPM, and more. Cooper Valves was a standout amongst the crowd with these videos, and gathered quite a following.

Relive Your Life

2019-02-14T01:30:51+00:00

Relive Your Life was my final project for an interactive studio. A second iteration, the first was written with a partner who recorded himself speaking into a camera. After realizing Adobe Flash's limitations, I decided to completely start over and go solo for the final. Clocking in around 35 minutes of simplistic animation, this game was made in its entirety in under a month. Each mini-game was coded by myself with AS2, and I had the pleasure of working with YouTube sensation Arin Hanson (Egoraptor - Game Grumps) for the narration. In Relive Your Life, you begin each journey as a sperm cell defending your egg. From this moment you play a [...]

Realize Your Alternatives

2019-02-14T00:44:48+00:00

With the purpose of proposing an alternative to paper usage in schools, firstly I needed to emphasize the drastic effect it has on the environment in its current standing. This was done as a graphic design project, but also as a pitch to the Aggie Green Fund for a potential grant. The project was broken into three parts, each initiated by the phrase "Did You Know?" Part one is about highlighting the problem, so it has a red and yellow colorscheme. Part two details the destruction occurring to nature, so the green colors work well here. Part three talks about why nature needs to be preserved, so a comforting blue and pink [...]

Manhattan Project

2019-02-14T05:18:08+00:00

The full title is "Lil' Einstein's Manhattan Project" and it's still one of my favorite games to play. Programmer Andrew Virostek and I started with an idea that a plane would drop a bomb and cause as much destruction as possible through chain reactions. It's a cute premise based on a dark day in history. Make enough money to upgrade your bomb to the atomic bomb before your science project is due. Overall this is a fun and challenging game. The artistic style was chosen to mimic the idea of a paper diorama, and the whole game partakes in Einstein's garage.https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/539834

Master Smasher

2019-02-13T21:19:00+00:00

For the first three weeks of our game development course, me and three others worked on creating a small prototype called Master Smasher. It revolves around launching a meteor around a gravitational field and destroying all alien spaceships on the current stage. The game got much more interesting when we allowed for the edge case to teleport the meteor to the opposite side of the screen. What initially seemed like a silly idea turned out to be a really fun little strategy game. We used Microsoft XNA and went with a very retro style for the art and audio. It was a favorite among the class and the professor.Currently, the game is not [...]

Derpasaurus Rex

2019-02-13T21:02:55+00:00

Derpasaurus Rex was a simple idea. An obliviously overenthusiastic dinosaur that means well, but crushes all in its path. Working with Noah Scammon for writing and voice acting, I spent some time figuring out what style I wanted to work with. We wanted the dinosaur to be an outcast, so he's shaded and fully colored which contrasts with the world's simple and sloppy coloring. Essentially, we started writing a basic scenario like going to the doctors and then tossed in a hyperactive talking dinosaur and thought, "What could possibly go wrong?"It's a silly short animation created purely for our own entertainment.
