Ranger Energy Services contracted me to create this animation in order to showcase their equipment. The company has been taking full advantage of having a 3D layout of their products in action, utilizing them for their flyers and presentations. The process of creating this video was arduous but extremely beneficial to the company. Round after round of scrim would reveal new missing details or changes that were overlooked the previous go around. I've never worked on a job in this industry, but after working on this project and talking to enough consultants about it -- I probably could. I added a dark background focus effect for some shots to keep the animation [...]
Ranger Energy Literature
mackerman2021-02-05T16:43:25+00:00Ranger Energy Services is a publicly traded company that provides equipment for the oil and gas industry. Once subscribed to my services, Ranger has been provided with a plethora of design work and animations. They wanted to showcase their mobile rigs, snubbing units, and other fracking equipment. Through 3D Rendering in layers, I was able to provide them with gorgeous images that can darken the background.
3D Animation Showreel
mackerman2019-02-14T19:43:48+00:00This showreel is focused on 3D Animations created underneath my graphic design subscription business, as a contractor. Companies like to utilize 3D as a unique way to display their products. It’s more fun to look at than a static image. Several valve companies in the area found my quality of work to be well worth it, which is why a majority of this video is about valves. I put a lot of effort into materials and lighting so your product looks as pristine as possible.
Chaoda Pig Valve
mackerman2019-02-14T05:16:10+00:00Pig valves are used to essentially wipe the interior of a pipe and prevent blockages. Chaoda's latest patented design is unique in that it loads from the side with a latch door that only opens after the valve has been depressurized and drained. This video was made to explain the perks and functionality of this particular design.
Chaoda 3D Ball Valve
mackerman2019-02-14T05:04:40+00:00Chaoda USA is a valve company that wanted to showcase their product in a more interesting way. Breaking down each part of the valve is the best way to do so. I created a hierarchical part structure for the valve and was able to animate the pieces in a way that both made sense and was visually pleasing to the eye. This valve in particular is called a Metal Seated Ball Valve, because the seats that cradle both sides of the ball are made of metal as well.
Critical Service Valve
mackerman2019-02-14T04:47:08+00:00COOPER Valves has a product line of metal seated ball valves that are extremely advantageous in many industries. I made these videos for a loop at tradeshows. They would play continuously for several hours. They installed a television in the company's lobby and put the video on loop as well. Many industrial tradeshows get visited by Cooper each year, including POWERGEN, HRSG, AFPM, and more. Cooper Valves was a standout amongst the crowd with these videos, and gathered quite a following.
Fireflies
mackerman2019-02-14T00:40:42+00:00This project utilized a kinect camera's joint data to track joint angles and hand motions. Based on the user's movements, colored fireflies would spawn and the user's hands could influence them significantly. We gave our program to the dance department at A&M to test and critique. They decided to use our system for a small performance to show the art in action. Interactive pieces like these have a lot of potential. It was a lot of fun to essentially toss light around using your body movement.
